Ok jumpers!!! I need your educated opinions! :)

Ok, so heres the deal. I am not a jumper. I never have been a jumper. I have never really associated with jumpers (not by choice). I am a western rider through and through with everything that goes along with it.

Heres the thing: My 27 year old sister is a jumper. Well she is starting to jump with her percheron. She has been training for a couple years now. No comps yet.

I want to get her a cool fun Christmas present. I (being the western rider I am) was thinking about getting her a custom leather draft halter, custom tooled, with her horses name across the noseband perhaps. I could even get it sheepskin lined for trailering and shipping if I wanted to.

Would she think that was THE most idiotic thing in the world? I would think it was cool, as a western rider, but as jumpers would you think I was sort of a ******?

Your opinion is MOST appreciated!!!!

i am a jumper/eventer and i would totally love that present! i wouldnt want is sheepskin lined unless i needed a shipping halter but i am planning on getting nice halters just like the ones ur describing for my boys when we start showing again. mayb even get her a matching lead to go with it! i would appreciate that present a ton

I think most English riders would appreciate a nice halter.

I guess its not just a nice halter, but a nice halter tooled in western styling. All the english riders I see have plain leather. This would be some fancy-shmancy stuff...

I am not sure if she would like western tooled hatler... do you mean like a bronc halter? Most english riders wouldn't use a bronc halter- a nice leather halter with a name plate on the side (check) would probably be more appropriate. Or maybe a cooler with her horses name on it? Just some ideas .. :D

Well I wasn't actually referring to a bronc halter. A bronc halter would have a heavy noseband often with sheepskin... No I am more talking about a standard leather halter, but having it tooled with, say, oak leaf tooling, and her horses name across the nose...

Could you show some pics of the type of thing you mean? Be easier to "yay" or "nay" then :D

I am an english rider who loves to jump, and if my sister was going to give me that as a present, I would be thrilled! I don't think the fancy tooling is strictly western, its just not the norm for most english stables/horses. It sounds to me like it would be a unique gift that she would certainly appreciate.

I'm and english and western rider but mostly english. I would LOVE a beautiful halter like that for my horse. I think your sister would love it 2!

I'm not having any luck finding a picture. everything tooled as a bronc nose band. I actually think I'm going to take the suggestion of getting a nice leather halter with a name plate. APPARENTLY according to my mom she likes them. Any recommendations of places to order one? She needs a draft size...
