gaited horses in oz that dont cost $$$$$...is it possible

ive been looking a lot at gaited horses of late but i get the impression that the majority of them are from the u.s. like TWH and such.

there are only a couple of breeds that i know so i was wondering if anyone can tell me some more breeds that are gaited? also, is it possible to find these horses in australia??

My girls are gaited Kentucky/Rocky mountain horses but I'm not sure if they have made it to Australia yet. I think the Peruvian Paso and Paso Fino are bred there as well as Missouri Fox Trotters and TWH. If I had to chose between the above I would go with the Missouri. Just a personnal preference, but I wouldn't give up my Kentucky girl for millions

oo, ive always liked TWH but i didnt think we had them here. might have to look more into that. so out of TWH and MFT you would go the MFT hey hmmm if they are here, i will have more of a search. they arent common i know that much :) thanks vida

i will check about the mountain horses too. once again i have never heard of them here but that doesnt mean they arent here :)

I own a Missouri Fox Trotter and he is such a joy! The smoothest gait you will ever ride! They are known for their easy temperments, smart, and extremely loyal and loving. Mine is a Black and white Pinto in color, 16 hands, the thickest mane you have ever seen, and the most incredible feet ever! He has NEVER been shod and he is 10 year old. He has done Halter shows, parades, and Elk hunts. Not to mention tons of trail riding and NEVER a shoe on him. I absolutely adore this breed. I have others, but he is dear to my heart. Not quite sure if they are in Australia, but if you ever find one, BUY IT ASAP!!!

ha ha well, spose its not what you know but who you know in this world.

i know for a fact there is a small stud not five minutes drive from me. very nice looking horses. not sure wat they are coz i havent taken that much notice yet, but i know they are a gaited of some sort.

the stud is on the quiet side of the equestrian world, so i will find out more information for you if you want.

its in s.a though.

lol that would be great. even if it is a ways away, maybe they would know of somewhere up here i could get one. you never know, when this flu is over i may just be able to bring the float on a road trip, visit mum and get myself a TWH. oh how i dream of having one lol

the only thing i have found so far is emerald valley farms in VIC. from what ive found, there are no breeders in QLD or NSW. i am also looking into the missouri fox trotters but i think im pushing it a bit expecting to find them here :)

you dont know how lucky you are ahearn to have access to these horses lol i guess everything eventually makes it to australia :) just ages after anyone else lol im surprised we have the internet hehehehe just kidding

:? Yeh i know where your coming from Jazzyrider. Australia doesn't have a wide range of breeds. Just the usual, QH, TB,WB and the old ARABS. If you are lucky enough to find a forign breed they cost a arm and a leg  But hey if you get one cheaper enough, buy it.... cause you will make a fortune.... only depending on if you take it places, you know get the horses name 'OUT THERE'. But yeh if you started a stud with TWH, i will get some services off ya.. except i live in WA :(

Hey just a question.... Why do you want a gaited horse??? :?
