Ha ha ha that is such a funny term Anyway. I never knew about "the bean" until my neighbor told me about it (even after growing up with a gelding). So yesterday while hank was "hanging out" I thought I would check for for one. He does have one and it is huge. I could not get it out and he tried to kick me when I did.(Which is not normal Hank behavior) I don't want to push the issue and damage something but it needs come out. Are we looking at a vet visit? We are going in a couple of weeks to do teeth could it wait until then?

You can probably wait. I know a lot of vets will clean the sheath while they are still sedated from the teeth float. Plus, your vet can show you how if you don't already know.
This makes me glad I have mares. =]

We have what's know as tooth and bean day at our house once a year. When the vet sedates the boy's to do their teeth I have the Excalibur and buck of warm water ready.
I'm too cheap to pay the vet to do someothing I can do myself, but if your unsure they will show you how.

I think the vet is going to have to do this one. He may have to break it up. It is like he has a big rock in there...reminded me of one of the caliche rocks in my driveway. I am really surprised it hasn't caused a problem yet.
