landing on the correct lead???
I debated whether to post this here in training or in english riding, but I thought since my horse is green it probably didn't matter....
Anyway, I have trouble getting Grady to land on the correct lead after a jump. He gets it about 50% of the time depending. But I haven't gotten him to do by asking. I've tried everything! I've tried asking over the jump, I tried lifting my inside rein over the jump. I have also tried keeping my butt out of the tack a stride away, and even tried looking hard in the direction of the lead I'd like him to take. My trainer and I work on it a little, but I'm getting personally frustrated.
Luckily, we've got our simple changes down pretty well. I just half halt into the trot, ask again, and we move on... Any advice out there?
This is just a shot in the dark here, but I would think it has something to do with the lead he takes off from. But I know nothing of english riding, lol
