Make sure you get a vet check to make sure the possible injury is treatable and he will be fit for purpose eventually.

Apart from that he's a good looking horse and I don't usually like bald faces.

You do know that a free lame horse is very much not free in the long run, right?

^^ my friend has gotten quite a few free horses. she got rid of all of them. Free usually means not enough training or not fit for riding.

:-)WOW - he is a pretty boy! I hope you find that he will come sound for you. Stifle problems can be tricky to treat depending on the cause and if there are stretched or torn ligaments or possibly a chip fracture of the stifle. Sounds like you are up for the rehab - I wish you the very best of luck and I do hope you can fix him with rest and TLC!

He is pretty. Good luck with him.

It says in the OPs post that this horse most likely has a stifle injury.

The point of my post is that most free horses cost quite a bit in things like medical bills, etc. So therefor they are not free.

I really agree with everyone else - an problem that makes him unrideable makes him very expensive.

BTW, I think you mean APHA not AQHA.

Just a word of the wise - please figure out what exactly he has wrong with him before you agree to take him. Stifle injuries are usually a pain in the butt to manage, and many people won't buy or take a horse that has a stifle problem.

Sounds like the owner has talked to the vet about it right? I'd be a little worried that if she didnt get the vet out for the issue. Mostly because if she hasnt called about this injury who know if he had proper care for other injuries or there is something else going on as well.
