How far do you think he can go jumping:)
as the title says how far do you think he can go?
this is oscar. 17.1hh 10 year old tb we think. has been jumping for 3 years. tell me what ya all think:)
the heights range from about 70cm (2ft3) to 1.50m (5ft)
heres some vids of him jumping
please ignore my position in them! i know its horrible and i have been working on it!
what you think?
bumping it up
I think he's lovely!! :D
Well, I think a horse has only so much jump in them. The more you jump your horse, the more you are breaking down their joints which will have an effect on "How far the horse can make it"
The question is, not that the horse can jump - but, how much Dressage Fundamentals are under the horse? Afterall, GP Jumping horses can do minimally 3rd Level Dressage because Top Level Riders know how important "Flatwork" is, and do up to 5 days a week doing just that.
How well is he taken care of? Joint suppliments, Joint injections? Proper care before and after riding? Proper Conditioning? All that contributes to the well being of your horses physicall standing and mental.
bumpin it up
agree 100% but from the looks of how you have to chase him and his refusals and going for the smaller one say something . maybe hes not too happy jumping that high. some of the jumps he seems to struggle.
ive got a 18.1 tb mare who can absolutley clear 5 ft and has. does that mean i jump her that height every day.. NO. we jump 2 - 3 x a week and school over 2" - 2 1/2" fences 2x and 3" and 3 1.2" fences once a week. i'd like her to stay sound. . we do a LOT of ground poles and small x rails and TONS of collection work and basic skills she needs to stay fit .you cant just jump jump jump. not saying you do . . just saying in general. he is handsome though.
at 1:51 on his free jumping video. see how he kind of swings to the side with his head chest and legs.. thats an indication of struggle and not fit to jump that high.
i think if you only did this many jumps that high for this video its kind of okay . i just hope you dont do that very often.
iknow this isnt a critique thread but i was just watching the 2nd vid and your arms to your elbow to your hands are very straight and very stiff. you should have a straight line from your elbow to your reins
he also looks very uptight in the canter under saddle with you.
also look at 2.15 in that second one too, you dont move your hands foward at all.
what happened to his leg ???
and im sorry but i havvee to say this, comming from a jumper, and all, please work on your position over smaller jumps. its not fair to the horse . =/ overall you dont look horrible. but you NEED a release big time. and approaching the jumps needs some work too. i hope you dont get upset im not trying to upset you i just want to say what i see.
i cant remebr the last time i jumped Oscar in the school. Sun (Last time i rode him) i did trotting poles, leg yielding and direct transitions. And once a week i will jump him about 4ft becuase i we do jump competitvely at that height so i want to keep him fit at that height but thats once a week.
but what about competing at that height? surely you want to be doing more than 3 big jumps in one round? I know you dont jump jump jump at that height but i want him fit to jump at that height.
yeah thanks about that but as you said not critique.
he was pin fired before i got him. dunno why or anything:(
