I was just wondering if anyone on here has experience with these boots. I just recently bought a pair because me and my horse are doing more jumping. any thoughts on theses are wonderful
The problem with fleece is the get matted/ nappy easily and they hold alot more bacteria then a flat surface like neoprene. They are less hygenic and can get musty/moldy because it takes longer to dry. I dont know any riders who prefer fleece, except people on this forum.
if you take care of your fleece boots and store and clean them the right way you dont have problems. ive never had any problems with any fleece boot ive ever had.
its not like im doing grand prix jumping and heavily using these and not taking care of them so i don't have a problem with fleece but just my opinion.
Romas are good, but I wouldn't get them with fleece. I dunno, just my opinion i guess. If I would get a boot with lining I would get some with removable sheepskin.
I have eskadron open fronts and I lovee them
I have a pair of these to school in. Very easy to wash, just put them in the washer (although they wash better, like polos, on "cold") and then the dryer and they're as good as new. Actually I have two pair, one with fleece and one without, and I like them both equally so -shrug- just a personal opinion I guess.
As far as open fronts go, they're more popular with Show Jumping riders for several reasons. As far as I know they're the only type of boot used in Equitation (others are allowed I think, but if you did I would not be surprised if you were marked down for not having "conservative" attire) and at rated shows many Eq horses cross over into the Jumper ring and they mostly just keep the same boots on. Since most everyone else is wearing them that's what most people expect, and at bigger shows you look a bit ridiculous in anything else. Not to mention its what you see used in Grand Prix, so its a lot of "monkey see monkey do"
Honestly, while I would school in SMBs or use them XC (if I did XC :P), I wouldn't wear them in the jumper ring. Open fronts look a lot nicer in my opinion. Just my 2 cents
Yep, Open Fronts are just a big fad. Until the next GP Jumper rides into the ring with a new set of fandangled style of boots, we'll continue to see Open Fronts on many horses legs - even if they don't need them - because "Monkey See, Monkey Do"
To the OP - just use whatever boots you want, you've already made up your mind - so enjoy.
I rode in my new open fronts today and Geof went well in them! I can't wait to jump in them!!
