English Pleasure

hi everyone.

I am abit curious about English Pleasure, and have thought more than once of maybe taking part in it with indigo.

Anyway's i have a few questions.

What do the judge's look for?
What are you judged on?
What should your horse particularly look like, such as braiding, etc?
What should you wear?
What exactly should the horse know how to do?

Anyother additional information would be great !

well this is a really hard question to answer, simply because there are so many answers, you should start by specifying which discipline you are interested in, dressage? hunters? eventing? however generally what you need to wear isint that different, used in all of them (generally) are breeches, gloves, boots, chaps, and most importantly, a certified helmet. i can answer more if you just specify a little!!

Essentially the judge is looking for a horse that they could stick their grandma on and not have to worry - the horse should be calm, and very responsive to aids. You should be able to have total control without any struggle. I would braid, but depending on the show it is probably not necessary. I'd use a white saddle pad, like you would for most shows. You should wear light coloured breeches, a show jacket if you have one. Good luck if you do decide to enter one, they're fun. :)
