Almost there...

Well my lovely girl is fully bagged up ready to go!

The fabulous 3 hourly checking sessions have just begun, and boy don't I just love 'em.

The poor girl has to have quite a few breaks when coming up our hill for dinner as she looks like a giant 'Thelwell Pony'

It's all very exciting :D

I shall let everyone know the outcome and post piccies asap.

Oh boy, baby pictures...I can't wait :D so exciting, I love babys.

Good luck! If you don't have a camera in the foaling area, I would do some quick 1 hour checks. Try not to bother/upset the mare, just a quick peek to see if she's laying down. But If she's haveing a problem, checking every three hours, you may be too late to help. Can't wait to see pics.

Still no baby :(

People are telling me because of the drought mares are cooking their foals slightly longer, I'm not really fussed as we have had some really hot weather lately and I'm glad that foalie did have to deal with it.

Although Feather is fully bagged up she's not waxing, but being her first foal with me I'm not sure if she does. So it's down to a guessing game.

As for the hourly checks, I'm hoping that after 15 foals she knows what she's doing, as I have an 8 week old baby who really needs a non-comatosed mother during the day

Shouldn't be too long now..... hopefully :D

Well Feather finally had her foal yesterday morning at around 9am (very reasonable of her!!)

Now I've been told that when people have their second baby it comes out quicker, I think it might be the same for horses as this was Feather's 15th and she squirted it out is under 10 minutes!! No sooner had I checked her (no feet showing)then walked back up the paddock to call reinforcements, then I looked back to see her push the foal out!

So Feather has now got a stunning little black filly with a hind sock and a perfect little star (sorry no photos yet, hopefully tomorrow). Her name is Glory aka Glenhuntly Rememberance (in honour of my Nana who passed away)
