Devastating Barn Fire..

Last night about 1am there was a huge barn fire near where I live. :-(:-(:-(Here is the story, Three horses killed in Kendall barn fire | democratandchronicle.com | Democrat and Chronicle

It got me thinking, what would I do if the barn where my horse is at was on fire? While I was there of course, otherwise I wouldnt know because the barn is a few miles from my house.

Do any of you guys have a plan if something like this were to happen? I'd really like to hear!

Ooh my gosh. How tragic. Fires are always so devastating... My thoughts are with these people.

We don't have a plan really. All but our sheep can get out on their own at all times if something like this were to happen. So, I guess if it were to we would try to get the sheep out if at all possible. I really, really hope I never have to deal with a house, barn or any other type of fire!

The closest thing to a plan I have is a good supply of fire extinguishers in my barn and one hanging next to the door I would run thru on my way to the barn.

My horses have in and out stalls so hopefully they would run out.

Aww... It's always so sad heard something like that happened .

I think the best ways try to prevent situations like that are

1) keep your stable electric lines in good shape and protect them from adverse circumstances,

2) keep some fire extinguishers always easily available,

3) keep all the stable passages clean (of items) and

4) have a good plan what to do and in which order if something happens.

Tamma you are definitely right! But this fire happened in the middle of the night and the barn was a ways back from the house so they really had no idea what was going on. Thats so sad I think!! =(
