Poplar Place Farm
Seems like there are a lot of mishaps at Poplar Place. Seems like a great, fun and safe place to ride, but you just see lots of fall and refusal videos on Youtube.
So, any of you ever schooled or shown there? Did your horse act up, either because of a rider fault or because of just being a little hot?

I've been to poplar twice and LOVED it. Great show grounds. Barns are nice, not temporaries, stadium and dressage arena have great footing. and cross country course is really nice. The course isn't very difficult. I'd say average. Wouldn't consider it a "move-up" course, but definately not too technical. Jumps are pretty inviting and usually not max-height. But i've also heard people say that poplar really gets to some horses. One of Kim Severson's advanced horses had a complete meltdown at poplar. And i've heard some other people say theyre horse just acted weird. But I've been with both my more experienced eventer and my 5yr old and didn't have a problem.
Yeah, almost my whole team had problems this fall there! But, my trainer said that me and my School master would have been fine doing BN, so it just depends on the horse rider team.
While I've never been there, a hear that the course is very technical. A lot of horse and rider pairs have problems with technicality down there because it is described as a "moderate course- with pairs with some experience at that level". Some go there as their first move up or when they aren't actually ready, and that's when you see the most mishaps. It's a very "looky" course and some horses are just wary of it.
www.poplarplacefarm.com is their website if you would like to take a look at what the jumps actually look like.
Stormy, I think you'd be fine at BN. Especially on Geof :D
Yeah, that's what Ms. Paula thought to, but I couldn't go because of schedual conflicts with the fam. :(
