Chetak Leather Open Front Boots

Hi Everyone,

I was wondering what everyone thought about Chetak Leather Open Front boot's.
I was thinking of purchasing some.. i read that they are great for eventing and jumping, that would be my main purpose of purchasing them, i have a friend selling a brand new pair she hasnt even used or touched.
They are horse size..
I am just looking for opinions.

They are interchangable sheepskin and neoprene lining... Which i would think is really good.
Here is a photo.

Thanks !

*i know my question is very vague lol, but anything that you know and are willing to share would be awesome about them..

Chetak leather isn't the best quality, it can be quite stiff, but for the price they're quite decent. I like the fact that the neoprene and sheepskin lining can come out to be washed separately. In my opinion, they're good for the price. If you decide against them, I'm interested :) :P

Thanks JDI (:
She is selling them for $70, so i do agree that is a really good price. Im guessing you know her someone off another forum lol ?
I most likely will get them, possibly depending if they work well and fit my boy.
Ill maybe ask her if i can try them out abit, before i buy them. ( a small few minute ride or walk with them on Indigo )

I can't remember how much those are brand new, to be honest. I work at a tack shop that carries Chetak equipment.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by I know her (someone) off another forum - I feel like a space cadet today - do you mind explaining?

Oh gotcha! If they don't work out for you... I am interested in them, if you wouldn't mind telling your friend :) Of course, I hope they DO work out for you!!

TwisterRush 01-03-2010 11:45 PM

haha !
For sure, i will let her know that i know someone also potentially interested in them if they do not work out for me.
(:

Do you want her page right now, so you can look at her other thing's, she has ?
But i will let you know if the boots dont work out for me !

Just as a point of comparison, I recently received a pair of Nunn Finer leather, open front boots and they were $90.00 brand new.

They too have the interchangeable fleece and neoprene and the leather is nice. They do not have the buckle closure though, they have the holes in the straps and a pin to hook onto....wish I knew the proper name for this type of closure.

Maybe Just Dressage It has some thoughts on this brand in comparison....and what is the name of the type of closure system that they have. :?:

I have a set of Chetak open fronts and ankles. I got them off of ebay (barely used) for $30.00. They have the stud closures, not buckles, and leather lining.
I have to agree with JDI that they are a bit stiff and they run big, IMO. They don't fit my "average" 15.2 QH - the fronts are tall and the ankles are loose - their horse size seems a bit oversized.
