Cat with black lips

I have a gray female cat that is ~5 years old that we raised from birth. She has black lips while all our other cats have pink. They are not spots but actually all black - very garth looking. They have always been like that but I can`t find any information about it and I've never seen it before. In fact, I never gave it a thought until someone mentioned how unusual it was.

I found nothing on google about it - anyone with an idea?

I'll check my cats for black lips and let you know if any of them have them. They are all varied degrees of grey cats and 2 blacks.
We had a yellow cat whose lips went spotty black in old age, but I think that was a sickness like cancer.

My cat has black lips... just his coloring, and yes it is rather rare, but it happens and is nothing to worry about...

I'm pretty sure the last three cats I had had black lips... don't think it means anything!

No, it doesn't mean a thing...Unless it is something new, like it just started, it just means she has pigmented skin.
Grey ( or 'blue') is a birth defect, an accident of nature. Prussian blue cats have dark skin. Actually, many white animals have grey skin, not pink!
Now you have been ed-U-ma-cated...Doncha feel SMART?! LOL

Thank you everyone. I've had cats all my life and, although I may have had one with black lips before, this is the first one I've noticed.

I've been trying to catch my house cat all day so I can look. If I didn't want her she would be bugging me

Yeah, no worries. My boy Misha has black lips and the roof of his mouth is kinda mottled. We used to judge how good puppies would be by the amount of black on the roof of their mouths. More black would be better, more pink would be worse. LOL.
And just cause I can't help but share a pic of my baby.

Lol, he is a cutie!

I checked what barn kittys I could catch and they all had black to grey lips. I'm pretty sure they are all decendents of a black tom though.
Cute kitty smrobs :-)
