This has been something that has been bothering me for a couple of weeks now, and I dont know if I should do something about it... A friend showed me a post from a thread from someone put up about two horses that have been stolen, described the horses, gave their name and posted a picture of the horses. The thing is, I know of a girl who now has one of these horses. Whoever stole the horse obviously resold it to her, she knew nothing of it. Its really disturbing me because its origional owner is out there, probably worried sick, but the thing is I dont personally know this girl, Ive just seen pictures shes posted of him on another small forum, so I dont know if I should let her know, or who knows, maybe someone has already told her and she just dont care. Any advice on this?
Does the original owner have law enforcement contact information? You can place a call and get the details. Could be those horses are really close in description to the stolen ones.
Thats what I origionally thought, but they "both" have the same name and look identical, not to mention that she had bought him from the same province as where the "other" horse was origionally.
I would tell her about it. It's not your fault if she doesn't listen. But someone is probably missing their beloved horse, and you know where it is. Personally, I would at least attempt to explain the situation to her.
maybe let her get in contact with the owner, explain the situation. Sometimes previous owners of lost horses are willing to make deals about keeping them in the right situation. Depends on where this horse came from.
I would contact the real owner, who had her horse stolen and tell here where he is.. and let her deal with it... I WOULD WANT SOMEONE TO TELL ME IF THEY KNEW WHERE MY HORSE WAS.. your friend isnt to blame for what happened, but the one who lost their horse DESERVES and NEEDS to know where her horse is..
We have a horse that was stolen...and I just want to know that he is safe. I would tell the rightful owner for sure. The owner must be worried sick, poor person.
If you know where the horse is and don't tell the owner you might as well have stolen it yourself. Do the right thing and call teh rightful owner. Besides the next time the thieves want another horse to sell they might be driving past your pasture.
I dont personally know the girl who has him now, but I know what part of the province that he is in, Im going to try and get in contact with the owner and let them know.
And if you are wrong? Embarrassing and hurtful to a lot of innocent people. If they were stolen, I would assume the theft had been reported. Go to the authorities and let them do their job.
I personally would contact either the authorities, or the rightful owner, not the current owner of the horses, especially as whether or not she had anything to do with it, she might end up moving them just so that they don't get "found" because she's gotten attached to them herself, if the authorities are the ones to step in and talk to her, then there's a better chance of the rightful owner being able to find out what happened to them.
