Quarter Horse Critique Wanted!!
Hi, This is my coming 3 year old Quarter Horse gelding, Scooter. I'd like critiques on his conformation, movement, etc. What do you think?? He is a sloowww grower, so his butt is still higher than his withers, but other than that critique away!! Thanks!!
PS. Sorry for the 1000 videos...they're taken from my iphone, which only allows me to send like 40 seconds max to youtube at a time :)
In order to judge conformation we need pics of him standing as square as possible on flat, even ground. Try to get pics of left, right, front and back.
Yeah, those aren't good pix for critiquing conformation but I personally really like the way that he travels. He has nice easy gaits. I can't wait to see what he will look like when he is under saddle and taught to collect up a bit, get that head down, and tuck that nose just a hair. He's a very pretty boy. :D
He looks great. Agrred with the fact yo need better confo shots. He looks really solid, and sweet. What do you plan on doing with him? How tall does he stand now? What is his blood lines. He will look good in the show ring if thats where you plan on taking him. Very adorable loving face he has! Wish my 3 year old looked like him, she is soooo gangly still but thats the TB LOL
Thanks everyone! I'll have to get some better confo shots...I did take a conformation "video" but it's pretty shaky so I'll work on getting pictures :) He is very tiny still...his dam was 15.2 and sire 16h+, and he's just around 14hh! lol. I'm PRAYING he has a nice growing 3 year old year....and makes it maybe to 15h! (hopeful, I know). He's growing so slowly that I have no hurry to push him under saddle. Being as he's so small, I'm not sure what I will be doing with him. I feel too heavy to ride him, especially at first..I'd love to keep him forever, but we'll see how he grows. I ride english so I think I'll make him into a little english pony, but he screams western =) His sire is Skips Montana Gold and dam (deceased) is Scooter Pine.
Don't get yourself down, horses can grow up until age seven. He could still spurt, he is young. :)
My paint gelding really didnt grow until his 4-5 year, he grew a hand and a half all of a sudden. So I really wouldnt get too worried about it yet.
What blood lines is he out of? What are you going to use him for?
He certainly is a cutie. You have the same dream I do with my lil man, Hunter is only 13.1 at age 2. I am hoping he makes 14.2 lol
