Potential purchase: APHA filly
Ok, I saw this filly and am in love. She was foaled April 09, registered breeding stock APHA, eligible Breeders Trust and KY Incentive Program.
Should mature around 15 hands approx.
Honestly I'm looking for an English horse but I'm also looking for a Western project.
So.... what do you think? These are the pictures sent to me so far, I can get more if needed. I'm concerned about the butt-highness. Is it far too high for a weanling or will she grow into it?
She is quite butt high but I have seen worse and it straightens out just fine. She wont be all that big if she is only supposed to top out around 15hh. Depending on how competitive you want to get with western, size typically does matter just as it does in English. In the pictures of her in the grass does she just have alot of bugs around her face?
It seems like allot of babies I see especially GH, Paint and Appies are butt high. I think it's part of growing up but I know some don't level out. My TB gelding was butt high (he has a big butt) and he was butt high when I got him and grew out of it.
I think she's an absolute doll and those 4 tall white socks are to die for.
She's cute. How is she bred? I wonder if she can get regular papers because of the high white above her right hock and the couple of spots on her body.
She is a cutie pie. I am a sucker for socks
I am confuzzled. Didn't you just sell that ginormous mare of yours because your Hubby said you had too many horses?
I think she looks great! No confo from me. I love her socks!! Also, I really like the paint to the right of your filly in the last pic. He looks soooo white!!!
I'm allowed 4 good horses and one cheap project (after a horse surgery blew my project budget), since I give lessons and I have horses in for training.
I have one good horse, plus a pony/lesson horse for my son and I've got one more gelding/lesson horse coming. So that makes three. I'm looking for my cheap project - and she's $400, well under my project limit.
That would make four horses. Keeps me under my limit totally and he won't be able to complain after that. His concern was that I had two large green horses that were on the backburner to being trained because of the other horses I was putting hours on for other people.
Make any sense at all???
It's not a definite. I'm honestly very concerned about her downhill build.
Apparently she can't be registered as a better type because she doesn't have enough pink? At least that's what the breeder says. She gave me her registered number, says her bloodlines include Docs Prescription and Colonel Freckles.
She looks really nice for $400. Love the white. I wouldn't be too concerned with her butt-highness. She's probably just at an awkward stage. But as someone mentioned earlier, her size might be a concern if you want to show at the higher levels. She looks like she might be worth investing in as long as you don't expect to go to Worlds.
