The main thing that sticks out to me is how your lower back is stiff and hollowed out. It looks like you're almost forcing yourself to sit in a perching position, so you're tightening up every muscle in your back. Your lower back should be loose and absorbing the motions... not slouching, just supple and relaxed.

Another problem I see, which really comes out when you canter, is that pinch in your knee. Do you see how your upper body is tipped forward, and your leg has slipped back? Try to lift your hands up, don't bury them in the mane, and rock back, don't lean forward. Keep your body in a straight line from your ear to your hip to your heel. To help you do that, you need to sink more weight down into your heel and get the knee off that saddle! I think once you tip your upper body back and grip with your entire lower leg, not just your knee, you'll find it easier to use all of your seat, you'll be more relaxed and comfortable at the canter, and you won't have to crack that back so much. :wink:

Agreed. I'd work on keeping your upper back relaxed and still, and not forcing forward, which when you work on not pinching you knee, will help out a lot. Also, once you've "mastered" not leaning forward as you do now, remember to move your hands in stride with him. :)

can i venture a guess that you do h/j ?

i really dont mind how you lean forward a tad when jumping, your core is tight & you are already in the correct position so you dont have to move at all when your pony jumps. the only thing that i saw was that you are pinching with your knee at all gaits. i think you guys look really good & your pony is a great jumper !

I just thought I'd add that I had the same back problem that you did and I tried everything to try and flatten it but nothing worked. Then I realized it was because my back and thighs weren't flexible. I do these everyday:

and lean forward in attempt to touch my toes to get a more flexible back, and its really working!

thanks everybody. i going to start taking lessons again soon so my trainer should be able to help me.
