need a western saddle(Semi QH Bars or arabian)
Hi everyone, I need some help to find a western saddle for my mare. It`s difficult for me, because I live in Moscow, Russia, and we don`t have shops with western saddles, or we don`t have bars size for my horse.
We tried a Semi QH Bars, but it`s a little big for us, and our trainer said that we need a saddle for arabian horses... And I have a big problem with Ebay, I don` understaend how it works and can they to ship saddle to Russia...
Maybe some one sell a western saddle, and can ship it?
Anyway I need some help, maybe some one know something...
this is back of my horse - with big withers
my horse(148 cm)
I`ll do a few new pics of my horse back in Monday...
Wow, thats a deilma (sp?) :-| She has some major withers...have you thought about going english?
It looks like she might have had saddle fitting issues in the past...those white patches on her withers may be from pinched nerves due to saddles that didnt fit properly...you would defiantly want to make out some kind of deal where you could try the saddle on to make sure it fit for sure. Good luck, keep us posted! :D
Her previous owner don`t care about saddles and good grooming. And ride everyday 4-5 hours. Then I buy her she had a fresh hurt... and now it`s white =(
but now it`s okay, I ride in English saddle, but it`s not allowed to go to western show =)))
when we tried semi-QH Bars I used anathomis pad, it`s a good solving a problem, but I think will be better to buy arabian size)
Actually, arabian trees are made for wider, short backed horses with limited withers. It would end up sitting right on her withers more then likely. It's really hard to find a western saddle to properly fit a high withered horse.
I'd definately avoid the arab saddle. My thoroughbred is built the same way, I was going to try a semi-Qh on him with a cutback pad (when I get the money to get a new saddle!). Someone on here suggested that I get a semi-QH with an a-fork because it will give more wither clearance.
What is an anathomis pad?
I would try a gaited tree if I were you. They're for normal backs and high withers. The tree also flares out at the front to free up the shoulders - which will help with any horse's movement, not just gaited horses.
I would definitely try eBay.
Look at these saddles:
gaited saddle, Sporting Goods, endurance saddle. Great deals on eBay!
Pick the one you want and click on it. On that page, on the right side, under "Other item info" make sure it says "Ships to: Worldwide"
Here are a few saddles I found that can be shipped to Russia:

SPECIAL ! Double T GAITED Western Endurance Saddle DARK - eBay (item 360229246326 end time Jan-31-10 20:19:02 PST)

Oh ok, I guess that would be like a builtup pad, I was looking to get one of those. Was the saddle just still too low on the withers? I'll be curious to know what you end up finding to fit, I am still in search of a saddle to fit my horse, his withers are similar:
Okay, today I`ve done this http://www.ridewest.ru/articles/hors...leTemplate.pdf
