Is she "gaiting"????? Say whuuut?
So I was taking pictures of Lacey today and she was really into it. She kept moving differently than she usually does but I just figured she was doing a really extended trot with some suspension...
But then I was looking at my pictures and discovered one where she only has one foot touching the ground, in the middle of her suspension... I looked up the definition of a trot to be sure and according to WikiAnswers: "The trot is a two-beat gait. This is because the horse's feet hit the ground in pairs, so you hear two separate noises before the horse is back where it started. The trot is diagonal (off hind and near fore, then near hind and off fore.)" so it sounds to me like she wasn't trotting if only one foot was on the ground....? Can Arabians be gaited? I've seen her do this before but I've never gotten pictures...
Here's the picture:
Is that normal? Or is she busting out skillz that I'm not aware of?
It looks to me like her foot isn't quite touching the ground. It looks just like a normal shot, and that because of the angle of the light, and stuff that her foot is touching the ground when it actually isn't. Her fetlock isn't stretched like it would be if she had just put her foot on the ground and was getting ready to move her body forward over the foot. Its still bent a tad bit in preparation for hitting the ground and bearing her weight.
