Attention APHA Horse Owners
I wanted to share with everyone a really great program that the APHA has in place. It is the Paint Alternative Competition, or PAC. You can get points on your horse's permanent record for showing your horse at almost any event - even if it isn't "APHA-approved".
Here's the link: http://www.apha.com/pac/
It's a very rewarding program. I've been enrolled for the past two years. Here's what you have to do -
First, sign up! You have to be an APHA member & your horse needs to be registered with APHA. Then, there is a $25 enrollment fee for the PAC program. You'll get a PAC card to keep in your wallet.
Second, show your horse! The event that you go to does not have to be approved for the PAC program. You can bring event approval forms along with you for the event organizers to fill out and sign. Along with the event approval form, you'll need the Exhibitor Report form to be signed by the organizers. (All forms are easy to fill out!)
Third, send in the forms! It doesn't take very long for your points to start adding up. If you are very successful with your horse, you could even have your names published in the Paint Horse Journal! Top point earners at the end of the year win prizes. Everyone receives Certificates of Recognition and Certificates of Achievement for reaching certain milestones.
Points are permanent and tracked by the APHA. You can view your points on their website. You must re-enroll each year and you have to be enrolled prior to attending any events for your points to count.
great post gottaride!
I am sure that there are lots of people out there who don't get to attend show thaat are always approved and this programme is a really good way to get your horse the recognition that is earned :D
Thank you for the post! I am so doing this next year!
I am not trying to be mean Gotteride but most paint people who show the paint circuit heavy know about and chose to not use the PAC program. It is more for 4-H ers that own paints but don't want to go to big, expensive paint shows! but gor those who didn't know about it previously, good post!! :)
Aqha should do this but you know they never will.
They're so aristocratic.
With gas prices and such, hauling out of state to shows is becoming less and less of an option for me. :)
Hopefully eventually there will be enough paint people here interested in showing their paints, but until then the PAC program will be kinda nice (even if it is not the same as points from and APHA show.
