tee tree oil = swat!

Okay, well, they're made from completely different ingredients. BUT! They both go on the wounds and keep insects away. Tee tree oil is all natural and healthy, not only keeping bugs away but also helping to heal the wound. Swat keeps bugs away, sure, but it's made from nasty pestacides. I've looked at the ingredients in swat and...yuck!
So, just informing you all!

Thanks. Good idea.

That's pretty cool. Sometimes, I take baths with a few drops of tea tree oil. =]

I've never seen tea tree oil used as an insecticide, only as a skin unguent. Maybe your thinking of pennyroyal. I've used pennyroyal on the dogs, not yet on the horses.
Many of these oils can't be put directly on the skin in their pure form. They need to be diluted with another base. Pennyroyal is one of them.

My mom said tee tree oil in pure form can actually really sting/burn on the skin...........

can you use tea tree oil to help wounds heal, do you have to dilute it. I have been thinking about this lately and am just curious

It's great to rub a bit on the edge of their ears, keeps those nasty midges away.

Very informative article, thank you!
And, yes, it even says in that article that it's used in insect repelents.
