Confo Critique

eventerwannabe 02-18-2010 10:18 PM

I dont know how feet are supposed to look on saddleseat horses, but get those hooves done ASAP please!!

Besides that, she looks a little chunky for a saddlseat horse, but maybe its just me. I like the weight she is at, but if you are showing, some people might give you a hard time for it. ;]

Take what I say lighty as I know NOTHING about saddleseat! She is super cute.

I have a critique of her motion on Critique Plz you can look. She is shoed like a 5 gaited Saddlebred but i know what you mean but my trainer doesn't let me have that much freedom with my horse.

Her weight is good. But I agree that she is too long in the toe in the back.

she's pretty :) she toes out a bit in the back , and maybe in the front to, I can't really tell. She has sorta a long back, but personally, I like long backs compared to short ones!

Haha I'm not very good at critique so sorry if I'm wrong about something! I just adore her color tho, and the was she's built. Cute face to. Haha, so basically I want to steal her ;)

IMO I think that she would be much better off if you got her feet done. She is very long and low in the hoof, you can see that her pastern angle does not match her hoof angle. This can cause many tendon issues and makes her prone to bows. Remember, from ducketts dot, you want just as much hoof in the front as you do in the back. Please note that I know absolutly nothing about saddleseat, though I have seen horses hooves that are shaped like this and once they are more balanced the horse moves much much better. If I dont make any sense than just ignore me :D

I forgot to say that I absolutly love her head. That face shot is so cute!

Agreed! She is really long in all 4 feet and looks like she has under-run heels at the back. They just look uncomfortable.

Other than that I think she looks really nice!

Agree greatly about the hooves, they look long and painful. Her angles are terrible(fronts are to steep and too long and hinds are to long and low, they should match), the hind hooves are starting to become dome shaped and are a perfect example of long toe low heel... she needs some hoof TLC asap... Regardless if that is how "a saddleseat horses hooves are trimmed", you should be thinking more about her comfort than conforming to the show standard. Her movement will improve tremendously with a good trim and proper angles...

Other than that she is a beautiful horse.

The only pic that is close to being a confo one is the first one and the top third of the horse is cut off for me. Front and rear views need to include the body from top to bottom, not just parts of legs.

You shouldn't give away that kind of control over your horse. Those wonderfully lumpy and inflamed fetlocks are because your trainer (and whomever they have trimming and shoeing your horse) don't have the first clue how a horse's foot should be balanced. And don't let tell them you your horse is being shod for showing because they are full of it. Utter incompetence and it's time you demanded more.

Your horse is in a fair bit of discomfort. Her musculature is lumpy and not uniform, her topline exceedingly tight from poll to dock, and her eyes are too bulgy with the expression of her face too taut.

Time to reclaim YOUR horse.
