First Dressage Lesson.
No photos to critique. I'm just REALLY happy at how well it went!
My horse has just been a trail horse for the past year and my trainer was amazed at how well he did. He is weak on his right side but maintained a beautiful rhythm throughout the 20m trot we were doing. He actually listened intently and ignored other horses!! (this is a huge deal)
So I am just very very pleased and wanted to share.

Congrats! Will you be showing him eventually?

I'd really like to if he shows a lot of talent and interest in it. I know that he really likes jumping, He gets really excited when he see's other horses being jumped so I might dabble in a few things. Right now the dressage is to get us both into shape and to really help him learn how to use his body correctly and gain new muscle.

Try a few things to see what you like:D. I just tried riding my horse English after riding him Western for 13 years, and I like it. Not as much as Western, but it's fun. Different, you know?

Yeah, I rode a lot of western when I was younger. My cousin was a fairly successful at youth barrel/ poles. around 7 I figured out I really liked English. I'm gonna try out a lot of stuff, he really loves going out on the trails and sense im smack dab in the middle of KY its not hard to find equine friendly trails around you know? Right now I guess he is sort of a jack of all trades kind of horse LOL

oh fun! I hope you guys do really well in your lessons and maybe get into jumping!

So far the lessons are amazing. My trainer informs me that we are very good at maintaining proper rhythm at the 20 meter trot, and my friend told me that keeping rhythm at that is hard so I guess we are coming along pretty well.
I really want to try some jumping I just don't think we could go any farther than 2', he has an ocelot on his front fetlock that I would hate to chip up.
Hopefully after more training we can really find out what to do. :D

I bet you will love jumping. The first lessons I took were so fun then it got boring cause the trainer just kept us in the one spot and didnt teach us any thing els. But if your trainer is normal then it have at it!

I don't know if my trainer does any kind of jumping but she is excellent with Charlie. She made sure that we wouldn't be doing anything he wasn't physically capable. Which i think is awesome.
There are a whole bunch of jumpers who do lessons at my barn.

Dressage is fun :) It's more of a challenge, too. It's really helpful for the horse and rider, though. Have fun!
