Help with growing hair back!!
I have a big thoroughbred gelding who has two big chunks of hair missing on his hocks. I'm guessing he got into an argument with one of the mares in his paddock and consequently LOST! any way this happened over two months ago and he still hasn't grown the hair back' when it happened the skin wasn't actually broken it was more like a graze than a cut.
Does anyone have any home remedies for growing hair back or even know of a good product??:-)
My two geldings can get a bit rough with each other sometimes, so they will occasionally have patches of bare skin. My boss recommended smearing a bit of Corona hoof dressing/ointment on (the stuff in the tube, not the liquid). I put a couple times a week on the hairless patch, and the hair starts growing back in a week or two. :)
i havent tried this but a very reputable horse person once told me that vaseline is great for making hair grow back :) also, i have found that anti-fungal treatments help hair grow back :)
I would try vasaline i use it for everything, girth gauls, saddle sores, blanket sores everything!
Although it does sound like Liece- flee's the same thing happened to my coloured a few years ago!
I thought it was just a really really bad saddle sore but then i looked deeper in to it after a couple of months, and relised that it was liece! i purchased stuff for it at my loacal equestrian store!
I asked the shop assistant and she helped me out!:)
bacon grease works really really well for non-cut hair growth :) i use it on my Girl! and no kiddiing it actually works!
I have had really good luck with MTG!
It smells a little like bacon, But they hair grows back really nicely and pretty fast in my opinion.
I love the stuff!
I've recently started using M-T-G (mane tail grow) to grow my Paso Fino gelding's mane longer, and I've heard it works pretty well so we'll see!
Seriously, I'm a firm believer in MTG
Pretty cheaply sold I might add, and seems to last me forever!
