weird jumper
Alright so my friend owns a arabian gelding. We ride western and compete in western gymkhana. Well her gelding gambit loooves jumping when he is at home he jumps cutely and willingly...buut when we are at gymkhana he bunny hops them. The jumps are white but syd uses a white pole at home what might be the reason for this. They practice and he goes over perfectly at home but acts weird at the event, Advice? heres a pic of me jumping one of the jumps at gymkhana for a look at the hight and stuff and one of him jumping the pole at home ridden and free..not the same height and no comments on posture or riding attire it was just a fun mess around day

Hmm. I'm not experienced in the jumping world, but I thought most horses pace themselves so their back feet are together when they go over. He looks like he has them apart, throwing him off balance. Don't take my advice too seriously--I'm in the Western trail riding world :p :)

My guess is that he's not able to use himself properly because it's a western saddle.

well its a speed event and the jumps aren't that big. In the pictures hes at a slow canter i believe and it was when he first started jumping he has improved but still bunny hops over them at gymkhana.
