Critique me and Romeo please!

Ok this is me and Rome attempting to barrel race. Neither of us have done it since last summer so we are no good, but can you critique us?
I am getting a trainer/lessons but I would just in the mean time like to know what I could do to help us.
*In the end of the video, I don't know how I fell off (Maybe you could tell me) but I lost a stirrup some how and ended up falling forward...*

There is another video coming it is just taking a really long time to load.

Please critique me or Romeo. but BE NICE please, this is the first time I have been critiqued.
And no, I don't always fall like that it just happened today...

Could be because you're off balance? You seemed quite stiff. Or maybe your feet weren't in the sturrips correctly. Sometimes when a horse changes a lead from out of nowhere it immediately puts you off balance, so maybe that happened too?

Try warming your horse up longer and yourself it will help prevent you from getting stiff- you were a bit stiff here is a link for helping warm yourself up. ( i know its for before equestrian sports but it still works!! )

I am really stiff, I need to get my back checked I think. It was bothering me today. I will warm up both me and Romeo more the next time I ride.
Also, is there anything I can do to help slow down his trot? He has a "pony" trot as I call it, fast and bouncy.

half halts will help you slow him down. Half halts are just quick, short squezes with your hands. keep doing them until he listens when he does, quit squeezing as a reward.
Also body positioning can help to. When he speeds up lean back, and sit deepin the saddle.
If he is being very uncontrolable you can try also do troting him in a small circle so he cant go fast an then slowly expand the circle. You can also do things like broken lines to calm him down.

hope this helps
