Breed guesses please?
I just got this horse yesterday. He's supposedly a 10 year old beginner safe horse. I haven't ridden him, but i can tell you he has a splendid disposition.
I was thinking, due to his stocky build and his main/tail that he has some kind of maybe Haflinger in him? QH/Haflinger?
Guesses? Here he is!
Now that i'm looking at these pics he almost looks like he could have some Norwegian Fjord poking out or something? I can't put my finger on what i'm seeing here... Thanks in advance!
I would say I don't think there is any Haffie in there. Maybe... some Fjord and a lot of quarter horse.
Thanks, only reason i was thinking Haffie was because for some reason he reminds me a lot of my mixed breed filly, and she's Haffie/Arab.
I joke that he looks like a wild mustang. I don't know much about mustangs, but for the heck of it I was looking at pictures and was surprised at the resemblance.
It really doesn't matter what he is, but I like to be accurate if i can. I love him already.
Thanks for your opinion :)
He's cute for sure! I'd definitely say there's quite a bit of quarter horse in there.
And I'd love to see some other pictures maybe with his head up and a clear side view? One of the pictures reminds me of a connemara pony build, but it might just be the angle.
He's really cute, although I don't have any breed suggestions.
Just curious, why do you have a chain over his nose if he has a nice disposition?
Now that he's been here a few days, i know he's a good boy.
I see just a regular stock horse breed like QH. Maybe a minimal white Paint or Appy. He is an attractive horse, a little bit rough-headed but he looks nice and sturdy.
That's what i figure, but something in his face reminds me of something (lol) but i don't know what.
Here's more pictures. He is pretty lame in the front, but as you can see in the pictures, he has no swelling. No heat. I've never had a horse act that lame and not have any clue where it's coming from. His feet are in terrible shape but i see no reason for him to be lame, no cracks or anything. Gonna give it a few days and see what happens. Otherwise, he is fantastic.
Learning more about him... he turns/backs without being touched. All you have to do is click to him and point your body in the direction you want him to go. Somebody put a lot of training into this horse at some point in his life, which worries me with the lameness. I hope to hell he just wasn't thrown away. He didn't like my grooming area, being kinda closed in and facing away from all the activity. It was only the second time i tied him and he really tested it, but otherwise he's been great. In the previous pics i had pulled some knots out of his mane but hadn't touched his tail. Boy was it a mess! I got him all groomed up today.
None of the full body shots came out because i was in the barn with terrible lighting. But here is what i got.
I say QH/morgan. Just his face screams morgan to me, specifically his mouth and nostrils.
