Mane on one side...
I just rubberbanded my horses mane over to one side a few days ago and I was wondering how long it takes for it to stay on the side so i could take out the rubberbands? It wasn't that much of her mane just a little bit but I don't know if that won't take as long or what?
Depends. Just every few days take it out and see how it lays, and if it isn't parted over yet do it up again.
I PROMISE it will take longer than a few days. If you don't leave it braided/banded long enough it will just flop back over after a week. Keep the mane braided over to one side for at least a month. You will need to take it out and re-do it at least once a week. If you don't rush, it will actually stay on that side and you won't have to do it again.

Nice to see the responses. I was looking for an answer to this question too, since I recently braided Lillie's mane to one side. (Same as above..top half went one way and the bottom half went the other way.)
I've got one of those too I'm working on, front half goes one way and back half goes the other way, drives me crazy! She's in bands at the moment :-)
I am working on the same thing, for the same reason, with my Holly. We are on week #2 right now and have seen definite progress.
I have tried that with my Mustangs mane and it didnt work...His mane is so heavy and thick and I refuse to cut it. It lays on both sides.
When I braided it and banded it , I left in for a month. Redoing it as needed, but it still didnt work. Is it possible that some manes just dont want to lay to one side no matter what? Maybe I just wasn't patient enough?
I've been trying it for about two weeks. This is what Lillie's mane looked like in Feb.
And this is from today. I had kept the lower part braided.
Only the shorter spot in the middle is still giving me fits. Of course, I banded it this time. Wanted to try to make sure I give it plenty of time before I try to let it stay by itself.
