Can horses see in color?
I'll tell you the answer after a while.
Yes, I think they can.... I think.
Maybe they even see both depending on the color.
I think they can because i have brought out a different color saddle pad before and junior freaked until he figured out it was just a saddle pad...
Yup, they just can't see as many colors as humans can.
microscopic examination of the horses eye shows them to have two types of cone cells and so they should have colour vision but perhaps this will be limited in comparison to human colour vision. Which colours horses can detected cannot, however, be established with a microscope. studies have shown that they can definitely distinguish red to a certain extent but not as clearly as with yellow, green and blue. in the studies, the colours were distinguished from grey and were chosen around 95% of the time so it does show a high level of recognition.
so yes, they do see colour but not in the huge spectrum that we do. and their depth perception is much different to ours but thats a whole different thread lol ive already said more than i needed too lol
No Jazzy, that was really informative!! :) LOL!
Yeah they can see colors but to a certain extent. ;)
i did a school assignment on what colour water buckets horses prefer, and to cut it short yellow was the most popular, red second and purple 3rd.
i also heard that horses identify each other by their colours. im not sure if thats true though.
but yeh i think they see in colour.
Yep! Your right they can! :)
