I just recently dug out my old saddle, to see how it's held up. It's been forgotten about in my in-law's attic for about 5 years now. It seem to be okay, except for the small amount of mold on it. How would I go about getting the mold off? I read somewhere that Lysol would work, provided I condition it well afterwards. Is this correct?
Also, how do I know what size tree I have? I wasn't even sure of the seat size, but I'm guessing where it says 16", that's what it means. This is a Collegiate, about 7 years old. Seeing as I doubt my butt will ever be 16" again, how much would I be able to sell something like this for?
Thanks very much!
For the mold, I just scrub with some good leather cleaner. Works fine ;)
For the tree size, it should be under one of the flaps, with the PIN number. For seat size, measure from the little bolt on the pommel to the middle of the cantle

Lovely saddle! I wish I had a 16'' booty, 'cause I would buy this from ya. LOL>
Actually, a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water will take care of the mold without harming the leather.
Thanks for the responses!
I'll try the vinegar/water and then clean it when I get time later this week. :)
I like plain white vinegar to remove and kill mold. Follow with a good all over cleaning and conditioning.
Most saddles like that have a Medium tree. If it measures less than 5" between the front panels, then it's a medium tree.
For a 16" plain flap saddle, no knee rolls, you can expect to sell it for $150-200. It's not a popular style anymore and 16" seats are hard to sell in general.
The stirrup bar/hanger may be stamped with an M or W, which indicates tree size.
