Any opinions on Purina Strategy?

My coming three year old filly is on timothy hay, some grass (during turnout) and I also feed her about 2 pounds of Purina Strategy with her supplement per day. My BO is telling me that Strategy makes horses "high as a kite" (her words) I personally don't agree and my filly is not high as a Kite either IMO, anyone feed Strategy or have fed it and have an opinion?? Thanks!

it depends on what the feed is made of. i hadn't heard of this feed before so i looked it up, however the site doesn't say exactly what is in it. but if it is working for your horse i dont see any reason to change:)

I feed strategy to both my Thoroughbred and the new QH mare I just got in, with oats and beet pulp and their supplements, and I had love the feed. I've fed it to other horses as well and think it's a great feed. It has lots of nutrients, and it's much more digestible than sweet feed. Really, it's just going to depend on your horse, how much you exercise it, etc, etc. I don't believe it makes them high, and I think it's a great feed, but that's just my opinion.

I use it.
Overall, I'd say it's about the best feed out there.
It has a high protien/fat content plus very good vitamin/mineral package allready blended in... so, unless your horse has some sort of specific health-related issue that requires something extra, you can dispense with the added suppliments, beet pulp or other mumbo-jumbo.

My two gets 6.5 pounds a day, each....plus regular ole Coastal hay and a mineral block. They are doing great. And no, it don't make them "high", "hot" or jittery.

Read the label, follow the recomendations, weigh the feed, make sure they get plenty of hay and keep their water clean...... perty-simple stuff, realy.

My horses eat it. Whoever told you it would make your horse "high as a kite" doesn't know what they are talking about.

It's really great.

I only use Strategy and my Qh is still as calm as he always has been.

I just started my horse on it about a month ago, haven't noticed any change in his behavior. It looks and smells a lot better than the other pellets he used to get. It’s a little more expensive, but well worth it IMO.

my filly eats:
1 can of startegy
1 can of crimped oats
1 can of alfalfa (chopped)

she gets it twice a day, and my mare is not very excitable
