Opinions and advice please!
Ihave been doing some research and have a theory i wanted to share and ask some people's opinions...
I am looking for an A circuit hunter prospect that could do the 3'6"+. i want a 2-4 yr old that i could start and train mostly on my own as a project.
that said, i have a theory that dressage-bred warmbloods could potentially be really nice hunters. with their big should and uphill build, there are some that dont have the knee action and i thought that there could be potential there. has anyone out there tried this with a youngster intended for dressage? i know there are a lot of dressage sires who have sired great show jumpers.
i welcome any opinions/ideas, thanks!
Many dressage horses make excellent jumpers and vise versa. When you begin your search I wouldn't worry too much about what it's advertised to do. :)
I agree about not looking at what it's advertised to do. Cinny has very heavy cutting breeding on one side by breeders who were very picky about breeding western performance horses but a lot of people who see's him move in his paddock, including my trainer, says he looks very dressage-y. Sometimes he even looks like he is pretending he is a grand prix dressage horse in his paddock, prancing and doing flying lead changes each stride of his canter with his head set. He's only green broke and never had any dressage training
