using a bit while lunging?
My horse was just recently introduced to lunging with halter. He picked up what he was suppose to do quickly. I was wondering if lunging him with a bit would be beneficial for future riding?

I doubt lunging with the bit will teach him anything about being ridden. If you want to work the bit into his routine, you can ground drive or double lunge or use side reins. All three suggestions require a good amount of knowledge though, because if you don't know what you're doing, it's pretty easy to screw him up, lol. So just ask if you need clarification. They aren't hard things, you just want to make sure it's done correctly. =]
In all honesty, I use the snaffle to lunge a young horse before I get on them the first couple of times. I only do this after they have been taught to give to the bit. But of course, my roundpen is small enough that it doesn't come tight unless I want it to. It may not make a difference but I think that it kinda teaches them to give to the bit more with forward motion. And I can teach them to turn by just tightening the rein a bit. However, I don't ground drive or anything before riding a young horse so what I do is just one of my tools.
Like Ricci said, ground-driving and side reins will be beneficial. They teach a horse to give into bit pressure, and just to accept rein contact in general. Ground-driving will help the horse learn left, right, halt, etc.

I wouldn't lunge with the rope attatched to his snaffle. Even a small vibration carries up the rope and into the bit and it can be very uncomfortable, which can cause a lot of high headedness.
I also suggest ground driving or even checking him around to each side and back until pressure relief is learned. It doesn't take them very long to figure it out.
Thanks for input :) Now how to get him to trot in a lunge?
I agree to not messing him up...lol. I did forget to mention I have ground driven him and he has been ridden about 15 times. I have a surcingle but I will need to purchase some additional items. How to I get him to trot in a lunge?:-)
I lunge mine in bit sometime. However the way I attach it is different then to the halter: I attach it on outer side, let it slide behind the ears and pull through the inner ring.
