Dallas & Annalie

Here are some pics I grabbed off a couple clips I took of the horses. My camera won't let me upload videos anymore. :( I know their hooves are long. I wanted them on the same schedule and I wanted them trimmed a couple weeks before I moved them. They'll get done on Friday next week.

Dallas
He'll do anything for a good scratch. So..I've been teaching him signals with my hand. I point the direction I want him to go and snap with my other hand. Once he goes the direction I want him to go I put my pointing hand down. To stop him I raise my hand in front of his drive line. To change direction I point the other way and snap with the other hand. To go faster I smooch at him. To get him to come to me I beckon him with my fingers. I can back him up now by touching him lightly on the nose. I can get him to move his hindquarters by holding up my hand and stepping toward his hind. I've been working on his forequarters but haven't gotten it down yet. He is doing far better now than what he was when I first got him. He'd run around the pen like he was crazy and totally ignore me. We communicate well on ground but not so well in the saddle yet.

Annalie
She's sound now. I still haven't ridden her lately because she chipped a chunk of her hoof off somehow. I haven't had the farrier out to look at it but I'm too afraid I'll hurt her. She just had her hooves done not too long ago and it doesn't even look like it (argh). I worry about her foundering.

Dallas is standing in the background waiting for me to come out and scratch his back for him (lol).

You can kind of see the chip on her front hoof.

Her mane is growing out. http://i23.photobucket.com/albums/b3...s/100_5555.jpg

Wow, looks like Dallas is one smart horse! He's good looking too. I love Annalie's blonde mohawk with the bangs. What a cutie.

I like it to, even though it is a pain in the butt. It's very full.
