Downsides of cutting horses....
So today I went over to Toni's, like normal, and went to excersize the "Daily Four" and saddle the others for her next lesson she was teaching. Anyway, the first horse I normally ride is a little mare name Scrufflenuffle. (Named by Toni's four year old daughter. -snicker- ) And when I went to get her from the far pasture, I discovered Scruffnuffle and her pasture companion (Daisy, and old and retired cutting mare) had broken through the fence into the neighbors pasture and had successfully brought their cows from the barn and had them all herded up.....directly in their well-cut and perfect lawn.
Anyway, the neighbors were furious and now Scrufflenuffle and Daisy are forbidden to ever lok at a fence without hot/barbed wire ever again.
Anyway, that's my fun story of the day....Nothing is ever boring at Toni's, apparantly ^^
Ha ha! I beat Daisy and Scrufflenuffle had a great time playing with those cows though. :D
Love those cow horses! Our 16 yr old lead mare has been away from serious penning for about 10 years, but I take her every so often to a friend's place to do some roping, and it's like taking a kid to the playground.
Cow horses just wanna have fun :)
Hehe, So true ^^
I can't rightfully be mad at them, can I? They were just doing their job :)
If two good horses brought a herd of cows onto my lawn I would think of it as a blessing.
That is hilarious! I don't even know how you would be angry about that. If I looked out the window and saw a herd of cows and two horses behind them herding them I'd just laugh...then call my dad to get the four wheeler so we can undo the poor horses' work:-P
If we leave more than 1 untied in the arena, they will practice cutting on each other... Or one will stand in the middle and lunge the other, it's fairly entertaining.
We had some idiot kids get into our pasture once and chase our horses, what they didn't realize is that when you screw with a herd of twelve cutting horses, you get chased back. Morons didn't realize they were just playing, and totally freaked. And Jester is the most enthusiastic cutter and he had his ears back and was reaching out to nip them, ha ha. They never showed up on our property again. I just stood on the deck and watched :)
Cow horses are the best horses there are! 2 of my horses are so cowie they can barely stand it!!!! If you ride either one them near a cow, they start trying to cut it or corner it! How funny!
