It's now a running bet!
Everyone is at odds right now trying to figure out what this boy is going to shed out to be. His mother is a palomino, and his father is a true black.
Anyway, I think this boy is going to be bay or possibly a sooty buckskin, but I'm leaning more toward bay. They say he'll shed out to be a blue roan, but I just do not see it happening from his current color. A bay roan, maybe, but surely not blue. They also say he could shed out black or dark brown. If he would be black, wouldn't his color be more grayish right now instead of that reddish bronze color?
I'm not a color expert but I'm pretty sure that you can not get a roan unless one parent is a roan, it isn't a recessive or hidden gene. I think you're right on with a bay or buckskin. Either way he's cute!
I know less than nothing about color genetics..... so my vote means about as much as I know.
But by the photos I say bay.
They think his dad is a roan because he's Hancock bred...-_-
I know he's just a true black, but other people don't see it that way.
Quite possibly bay, although I don't see any black points on his legs.
He could turn out to be what's known as a primitive bay. They either don't have black points on their legs, or the black points are minimal.
My Conny was a primitive bay, because he had a dorsal stripe and his legs had only minimal black. Still a bay, though.
