Round Skirt Saddle Pad

Thinking of getting one of these for my round skirt saddle to make it fit better: Classic ESP™ Felt Round Top Saddle Pad | NRS - National Roper Supply - Western Wear, tack, team ropes, horse tack, team roping ropes, bits...

Also, don't know anyone around here that I ride with who does, but I know alot of western riders use a saddle pad and saddle blanket, but I don't know which one goes on first. I would assume the blanket to soak up sweat and make the pad last longer. Anyone who does this let me know how you do it.

And also, let me know of the rounded pad really works or not. Thanx

I have had that pad and they are very nice. What is wrong taht you are trying to make it fit better? The pad is next to the horse for comfort and the blanket is more for looks.

Nothing is wrong, my horse just seems more comfortable after trying several different saddles, with a closer fitting saddle. And to me, it kind of defeats the purpose of the round skirt saddle by using a square pad. I want to do all I can to make him more comfortable and happy, makes training and trail rides alot easier that way. He can be a real brat if he isn't comfortable, and he will let you know.

Thanx for the info on the pad too. Did it hold up well? And, did it seem ventilated enough, it gets very hot in the summers here?

I ordered the correctional fit that was padded at the withers and it didn't work for what I wanted it to do so I only used it once.

K, thanx, guess it's worth a try. If it doesn't work for him I can always sell it.

I have that pad, just used it for the first time about an hour ago! Went about 6 miles, mostly at a trot and gallop, didn't have any problems with it and no complaints from my horse.
