New to Parelli Natural Horsemanship!

I've never done any of Parelli's methods before, but I have a horse I'd like to try it with.

I can't get the DVDs, so I need a little help.

From reading other threads, it sound like you start with the 7 games. Right?

How do you teach the game, what are the steps?
How many times a day can you work on the games, how much is too much, how long per session (fully grown horse)?
Can you work on more then one game, or do you have to perfect them in order before moving on to the next?

The games:

The friendly game
porcupine game
driving game
"YoYo" game
circling game
Sideways Game
Squeeze Game

THANKS!!:D

i really don't know much about parelli but it looks cool to me. i've seen a short video of the 7 games and the way he kind of does it he just does each one till they get the point not really perfect. he kind of does each of them a little each day or how ever much time you have to work with your horse. the 7 games is kind of a way to find out what kind of personality your horse has like if it takes longer to move to the next step there a slow learner or don't want to learn and if they get it right a way they want to learn and are willing i have heard from poeple that sometimes when there older and they really havn't been trained they are a little harder to train because there the mature age and want there way like teanagers like me haha but i'm not that bad anymore never really was a trouble maker haha. i would love to do parelly but a lot of poeple i've tried to get to help me don't like his ways i do you just really got to know what your doing people say but i say anybody can do anything if they really want to.

hope i can help.

Hmm, well if you can't get any DVDs it's going to be more difficult to start, however not impossible. I'd suggest contacting an Instructor and asking them. We can explain it to you but you really need to SEE it in order to understand it fully. Is there a way you could attend a Level 1 clinic (either participate or audit) so you can see it in person? There are SO MANY things that need to be said about each game and how your horse's Horsenality plays into your success, an Instructor will be your best bet :)

The general idea is to work on the games in succession....a lot of the skills in the initial games are built upon later.

Here's a link to a breakdown of the games!

It's very important to do the games in order in the beginning. Also, don't focus on making the games 'perfect' that will come later.

So start with game #1, once she gets it move to game #2, and so on?

Is that what you mean?

Yep :) Just don't look for perfection lol.

Have you tried looking on ebay to see if you can find the 7 games dvd at a cheaper price? I will keep my eye out if I see one I will let you know...
