Trainers in OK?
So, this March I should be getting a trailer-which means I can finally go to a few trainers outside of my area!
So I was wondering, does anyone know of any good trainers in Oklahoma? I jump, and dabbled at Eventing, and a good cross-country or dressage lesson would be great. I also have a strong ambition to one day steeplechase. (haha)
So, has anybody been to or has herd of some good trainers? I'd say that I need the most help with just understanding my horse. Whenever she doesn't want to do something, she'll start backing up, or even rearing. And after that, things just start going backwards. But when she's in a new enviroment she is very well behaved. I'd also like someone who could maybe help me find some shows to go to, and help me out for them.
I'm from Oklahoma! What part are you from?
Weatherford, (Custer County) you?
Ooh, that's far from me! And I have no idea who the trainers are around there! I ride hunter/jumpers in Tulsa but I know most of the big trainers in the Edmond/OKC area, but not that far west. I can give you some great websites though.
This one is for the hunter schooling shows on the western half of OK
This one is for the hunter schooling shows on the eastern half
This one is for some schooling shows but mainly A rated shows for all of OK
The main eventing website for OK is
The dressage org for Tulsa is this, but they have several shows a little more west then Tulsa:
I think there are more eventers on your side of the state! Hopefully through there you'll be able to find some quality trainers/barns to work with!
I should finally be getting a trailer this March. (Before I borrowed a tiny little stock trailer, and my horse was way too big for it. Only used it for vet visits) so these will come to good use!
You can try the AQHA professional horsemen near you.
Here's a site to use to locate one. FIND A HORSE EXPERT
I think that's a list of the people who do the AQHA stuff (well, duh, it being an AQHA site...). Is that what you wanted to do or are you looking for eventing/hunters? I recognize a few of those names as hunter trainers who do a little AQHA on the side though.
