Help me identify this type of saddle
Okay, since I don't know when the next time is that I'll be seeing the boarder who is selling the english saddle, but I would like to know what kind it is.
It is definitely a Crosby saddle, there are buttons on each side of the pommel. The cantle is low, not flat, but certainly not raised, like say a dressage saddle is. There aren't any knee rolls, so it definitely is close contact. It looks very similar to the cc saddle pictured below, except higher quality leather.
Oh, and the seat size is a 17. I'd probably be more suited for a 17.5, but if I can get it for cheap, I think I can deal with it being a 1/2 inch too small.
I'd say A/P from it's look. BTW, with saddles you never know about the size. 17 may fit you nicely even though other saddle is better when 17 1/2. The only thing I don't like about this saddle is there are no knee rolls (at least looks like for the one on front). Although it's a matter of taste, of course, but it adds some comfort (at least IMO). But other then that it's a decent looking saddle. So if it's comfortable, fits your horse and good price, I'd go for it.
The seat is a little hard IMO, but I'm used to western saddles and we don't have knee rolls either. The only thing I think that might turn me off from getting the Crosby is my leg position...my left knee is pretty bad off, so bending it for long periods of time makes me pretty sore.
