I just couldn't resist.. :D
Jesse has been standing around for a week now and I haven't had a chance to throw a saddle on him. His front feet need some work before I do any serious riding but tonight I just couldn't resist. I didn't figure some walking and easy trotting around on the grass would hurt him much so I saddled him up (which is a task in and of itself trying to get a 45 lb saddle on his 16hh frame LOL). I didn't bother warming him up at all, I just stepped on and he did fine. I kinda eased him over the driveway to the grass and his feet were okay then. He is a decently nice horse but he needs some serious work LOL. I can tell that whoever broke him and rode him didn't really ask him for much other than just packing them around. He has no idea how to give to the bit or break at the poll and his brakes suck but that will all get worked out with some work from me. His walk is nice but his trot is about like doing 80 over a row of speed-bumps LOL. But that's okay, it may smooth out some after his feet get worked on and with more riding. However, if I can learn to sit his trot, then I'll be able to ride anything.
Anyway, just a couple of pictures of him under saddle. This is all I managed to get before the stupid puppy destroyed my camera (I'm pissed about that). But anyway. http://i551.photobucket.com/albums/i...g?t=1274659625 http://i551.photobucket.com/albums/i...g?t=1274659638
I think he looks pretty darn good under my saddle. The last buckskin horse that I rode other than the occasional ride on Pokey was old Buck when I was a little kid. It feels good to be astride one again. :D
