mane question

i'm trying to get my horses mane to grow longer so i got some of that MTG stuff and also tried to braid it down his neck but as soon as i let him back out he shakes his head and it falls right out what else could i do to try to protect his mane?thanks

You could try a hood.
I had one of these silk horse hoods called RobinHoods.
It was pretty cool.

I wouldn't comb it though.
I would probably just brake off.

wouldn't braiding it just make it start to fall out more easily?

So what type of things are preventing your horse from its mane growing?

because like if it is fence wise you can put electric wire on the fencing so he wont rub his mane.

So i can't really help you much unless you tell me what is stopping his hair from growing.

his mane isn't real short just would like to get it a little longer he his already behind electric fence i guess i just really like long manes i'll try to get a picture on here of him if i can figure out how to do it!

Our horses manes grown so long.. we do alot of shows so you could do the routine just without the braids.. cut off about 2" and thin the mane, spray with no nots and once a week use a strengthening treatment. Avoid using people shampoo and prodcts on horses manes and tails because that strips the hair and weakens the first layer, causing the hair so snap while being combed. use a soft brush while brushing and put a skinny hood on.. is he rubbing his mane/getting chewed by other horses etc.. and is his mane and tail hair really thin?

it could also be the breed of your horse some breeds don't grow manes as thick as others or as long.

thats actually a pretty good length compared to my horses mane haha

well i say just me patient it looks like your horse might be a fast grower but uh maybe thining out the mane some might help

I would try using a mane tamer, one that is suitable for turnout...or braiding. I guess it depends on your area of turnout, my horse doesn't have access to any trees or burs so I either lightly braid her mane or just tie sections. Works for me.
