Hmmm... possible mini!
OK, so I was playing/help train my neighbors baby mini when she came out and told me something. She said, " I have a proposition for you" I totally thought she was gonna say something about getting to help really train the little baby or some thing but instead she told me of a mini stud that her friend has to get rid of due to divorce. He is 14 years old, a stallion, and registered. That is all I know. I have pictures though... He might not still be available but I will know tomorrow. What are some good questions to ask? I will for sure want to know how tall, if he has any babies on the ground, what he is registered under/as, and things like that. What else? I know he is trained to pull carts and my neighbor said that he is very polite and doesn't act like a stud... I know my neighbor is planning on breeding her mini with him if I get him and stuff like that but if I were to breed him a lot I would definitely want him to prove himself in the show ring(my neighbor will take me and him when she takes her girl) but what else should I make mandatory before letting him be at stud?
Thank you for reading and extra thanks if you reply! I will post the pictures later! He is a chestnut or sorrel pinto (not sure which) He is gorgeous!
Got some more info on him... He is 32.5in, trained to pull a cart, has done well in the show ring, and has foals on the ground. His current owner has to give him away because they own a large ranch that they have to sell and they wont have enough room for him. He is a calm in-your-pocket stud and the main thing he does around mares is whinny. Tomorrow I will get his registry number and make sure there isn't big problems there. I think I will try to double register him instead of just having him registered once (grade A registered already). My dad said we can try and see if he works out. If he doesn't work out my neighbor said her hubby told her she can keep him at their other house. Unfortunately he has just been a lawn ornament recently and hasn't continued showing, breeding, or pulling a cart so I will have to refresh his memory.
Any comments would be appreciated :)
Pics? I say go for it!
K here are pics!
Ok well never mind. The owners decided to back out of the deal because they want to keep him. I have heard they have said this to every person that came to give him a good home like they asked. Dang! Got my hopes up for nothing...
Well that's to bad, he's a real cutie!
Well, if they have turned down all the homes thus far that would seem to indicate they have yet to have someone show interest who they truly feel is the best match for their horse.
That's too bad , he's a cutie.
