Don't we all love bath time :)
I got to give one of the newer rescues a bath today. I quite enjoyed it. :)
Meet Shiloh. She came to the rescue about 3 months ago from a rancher near the Mexican border. He had sent Shiloh to California to be trained as a Mexcian Rodeo Horse. She got a very very bad rope burn on her left hind heel and wasn't able to ridden or worked with so she was sent back to the rancher. The guy decided that she wasn't worth the money to fix so he was going to either send her to slaughter or let her lose out in the desert. Luckily one of the ranchers friends found out about this and called us up at the rescue and he brought her to us. She is such a great girl and her leg is healing really well. She's going to make a great horse for someone. She is very smart, playful and she learns quickly. She already knows a lot of thigns and she's one of the most bomb proof horses at the rescue. Everyday we have to hose her leg down and use this medicated shampoo to cleanise it, which this has helped tremendosly! She loves the water so I decided to give her bath on Wednesday after I cleaned her leg.
I love giving horses baths :)
Before the bath. I don't know if oyu can see in these pics but she has really bad saddle sores on her withers.
All Soaped Up
Afterwards. She's so shiny!
She's one of only a few horses I know of who love their faces wet!
Her leg. You can see where the rope burn was. It used to be really raw and pink but now it's finally healing and the swelling in her leg has gone down a lot.
Her Pasture mate, Sedona. She was shaking in this pic.
She got bit by a rattle snake about 2 weeks ago. This is what happened to it *WARNING GRAPHIC*
I brought my baby brother out the other day to meet min Pirate. Haha my brother loved the little guy.
And I have to share. I finally got some nice shots of my parrot, Birdy Boo.
I can't wait for his feathers to grow back!
Aww Shiloh looks gorgeous and Sedonas bite must really hurt. I hope they both get better soon xx
Oooooh I cringed at the snake bite pic!!
I really have to get out there and bathe my horses. They are gross LOL
your parrot is stunning. And you have to love bath time :)
Love all the pictures- Shiloh just looks thrilled to be soaped up! :) I love giving horsey baths, though Rainy doesn't love them 100%...
I gave my guy a half bath today.... mostly hosed his legs and got him used to it as it was the first time I tried to hose him down. He was so funny- he kept lipping the hose water, then took the hose in his mouth and drank and spit the water..... he is a goof. As with all things, he just let me show him that is was not harmful, then he calmly stood while I rinsed him.... I will try the whole thing another day.
