Thought i'd share how i went at the combined training day.
The dressage was.. ok.. Shad wouldnt relax, so the scores arnt very good. Mainy got 6's. And most of the coments were along the lines of "needs to relax" "tense" "tense, rushed, unbalanced transition" etc. Final score was 55.9%. Which isnt very good right? Would have done much better if he'd relax.
Because i was last for the dressage they'd already walked the course by the time it was my turn, so i had to watch the other competitors so i'd know where to go. He pulled a fair bit, and would take off a bit to far away from the jump sometimes, i got left behind a bit :? I'd half halt and such aproaching the jump to try and hold him back a bit but he was a bit excited
I've been told theres a local jump club that has instruction days and stuff so i might look into that.
oh, we had 2 refusals and one where he knocked a rail. So thats, 12 penalties i think?
Anyway, heres a couple of pics.
Lovely pics!! Doesn't he pick up over those fences well! Still new to it so don't worry! Practice makes perfect! N he will relax the more used to it he gets! :-)
well done!!!!! :-D x

Looks like fun!!
Theres a dressage day next month and the month after that ill take him too. Hopefully he'll be more relaxed then
Look at those legs! What a beautiful boy you have!
Thanks for sharing your day and your pictures, I look forward to seeing more of the two of you together :)
What a lovely team. I see great things in your future. The photos caught some really nice moments. Next time we want videos!!
BTW, I might shorten those stirrup leathers over fences a bit. It will really help follow the horse better. Might help keep you from being left behind. You weren't jumping in your dressage saddle were you? It almost looks like it.......If so, no WONDER you had balance issues!!!
Keep up the great work.
Thanks for the nice coments everyone!
Wow, under that circumstance, you rode very well. My hat's off to you!
My hat is off to you too for jumping in a dressage saddle!
Beautiful black horse. He looks happy and enjoys his job.
He looks like hes overjumping a bit but I'd rather an over jumper then one who doesn't.
Thanks! I've kind of gotten used to it, i think ive only jumped in a jump saddle a couple of times.. I really need to buy one at some stage though..
