Braiding?!?!? 1 Attachment(s) I have a bay roan quarter horse and we have some shows coming up. We are doing english showmanship but she has a long mane. How can I braid it in a way that still looks good with the color she is? Here is a picture of her so you can see her color. How do I make my pics. bigger? |
I'd just do regular button or hunter braids... but braids don't really look better on one color or another, so it's up to you. I'd use black yarn or bands though since her mane is that color. |
I love how french/ running braids look for English horses with long manes http://www.raspberryridge.com/runningbraid.jpg http://www.haflingerhorses.com/Stan-June2032C2003-3.jpg |
Thanks |
I agree with Horsea, especially if it's just a local show. Button braids are a must for bigger shows and picky judges but the running braid is easy and often very fixable between classes if need be. |
for barrel racing i have a mare with a long mane I use a running braid or or cut her mane and do the tradional western mane |
You only need to braid if you horse is a pleasure horse (at least that's what I've observed). Stock horses are usually (almost all the time) banded or if they have a long mane made to look like this... Stock horse mane bands image by huswplovr on Photobucket I could be wrong about only pleasure horses braiding. |
I've seen people leave stock breeds with long manes. In showmanship since it's more about you then the horse you may be able to get away with this but, since it is a show you want your horse to look their best. I would recommend a running braid to give your horse a clean look or at the very least trimming the mane to make it look nice and tidy. |
what does color have to do with it? |
soz didn't mean to write barrel racing |
