A little milk and one swollen teat
Ok so, the pony I'm leasing right now has been off for awhile for breeding, and though we're getting back on track and I've dealt with mares before, none of them have ever been bred- so I don't know if it makes much of a difference.
Basically, when its her 'time of the month' she 'leaks', not huge amounts, but her udder gets a little swollen and she milks a little. Her last baby was taken off a couple months ago, so is that normal? Is it normal for all mares?
(The last time I owned a mare I was seven and didn't really care to learn about these things, don't judge, haha).
Other than that, one seems to be always more 'swollen' than the other, it doesn't seem to be bothering her, but should we be watching closely for infection, or is it just... bigger? I'll try to get pictures as soon as I can.
On a side note, because I like to show off, this is my new darling in her prime.
Now think a couple babies later and three years off work and you've got Chick today. I should post a 'getting in shape' thread to keep on track. :-P
