Dressage Legal Bits

I currently ride my 5 year old in a Dutch Gag 3 Ring and he is very forward, but i do not know if it is dressage legal.

If anyone can help it would be greatful.

I'm not sure what country you're in, but these PDFs have lists of the legal snaffle bits and curb bits (for double bridles) for Canada and the US.

Gags are usually not legal in dressage. The whole point of dressage is to get your horse moving forward naturally and being able to caputure that energy without using alot. And to train your horse to respond to minimal aids.

If it isn't a smooth snaffle, it's not legal. Check the diagrams for the sanctioning body of the competitions you want to enter and if you're still unsure, check with the ring steward.

Found him a snaffle bit, and will train him in that this week and see how he goes
