Ok colour guru's...
I give up. I have been trying to find out what colour Sonya is from the day I bought her. I have been told she is chestnut, bay, wild bay, dun, and buckskin. What colour is she?
Also, she is a Quarter horse/appaloosa. I have no idea what her parents look like, so no help there with colour/genes..
Here are pics:
Mane- as you can see it has streaks of white and silver all throughout it.
Legs- also silver
Tail- also silver/black/white
Head- i think she has pangare?
Thanks for any info!
hmmm, thats a toughy,...silver bay maybe?
You said she has appy in her, right? The silver/white you are seeing is from the LP gene kicking in. So she looks to be a bay with some appy (LP gene) traits.
Would the Lp also cause her legs to be silver?
The LP gene can impact any part of the body.
im thinking she is wild bay with silver (silver bay i think), look gorgeous!
i don't think she is wild bay because i have a wild bay and their black points don't go up that high. and you can see her points go up to the normal bay height they just arn't as dark as a normal bay. here is what a wild bay looks like
as for whats making her points seem so light i'm not sure. is it possible for Agouti to be on Seal brown?? causing the legs to be more brown then black and making them lighter in color??
Lil Kitty, Seal Brown is essentially a bay, so it is technically Agouti. It's the same gene(as far as I know). She's just a plain bay. If she were a silver bay her mane and tail would be a more creamy color, such as this:
The little white flecks may or may not be LP. As far as the lightness of her points, they really aren't all that light and they lighten in the winter. She's just a plain bay, IMO.
