What age should you start a horse?
What age should you start a horse for riding? I think you should start saddling them at age 2. But thats just my opinion. :wink:

I started Hoopie, my mare, at age 2.
Yea, I say 2 but it will change sometimes based on the horse.

I guess you have to look at the horse. In the reining world, there horses are fully finnished at age 3. While they don't even take some dressage horses out of the barn till there age 6.

i say late 2 year old or 2 and a half. Thats how they are around here.
You also have to think that dressage people tend to teach their horses alot more technical things that take longer to learn than most western things.
No offense, but why do we keep beating this dead horse?
